An Atlanta police officer is recovering after being involved in a wreck early on Wednesday.
It happened on Interstate 20 westbound near Maynard Terrace. Authorities say the officer was was in the far left lane of the interstate with his lights activated when he was rear-ended just before 2 a.m. The police car traveled nearly 100 feet after the impact.
The officer complained of back pain, and was transported to Grady Hospital. He was treated and released.
Two people in the car that hit the officer were treated at the scene.
Police say the driver of the car, Kerry Edwards, was arrested and is being held in the Atlanta City Jail. Edwards is facing charges of driving to fast for conditions, operating an unsafe vehicle, violating the move over law, and operating a vehicle without valid insurance.
