Tennessee gun auction draws large crowd

Posted: Updated:

With talks about an assault rifle ban coming in the New Year, people around the country are flocking to gun stores.

More than 500 people came out to an auction in Tennessee on Monday. Gun sales have gone up since the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

At the auction, the same style gun used in that shooting sold for $1,500.
"We can hardly keep guns on the shelves.  We have a few  of the AR's left and a few AK's but that seems to be the big movers right  now," said gun store owner Bill Morgan

Gun buyer William Medford says he wanted to see how much guns similar to the M-16 were going for at the auction. He says other people told him those types of weapons may have stricter laws applied to them.

People who bought guns had to pick them up from a gun shop after the paperwork and a background checks were completed.
