Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

MARTA is offering metro area residents a way to ride around the city to various New Year's activities.

Many events are planned in the area, including the Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome and the Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta.

MARTA says it will have extra staff and police on hand to assist with the expected crowds.

A regular weekday schedule will be operated on Monday, according to MARTA, although some bus routes will be rerouted due to the bowl game and Peach Drop. Buses serving Five Points will be rerouted to other stations through the end of regular service beginning at 4 p.m. These bus changes are listed below.

Fare is $2.50 each way, plus a $1 charge for a permanent Breeze card. MARTA encourages customers to purchase round-trip fare at the start of their trip to avoid long lines.

The following information is from a press release from MARTA:

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all of MARTA's daily parking facilities. Customers parking in the decks at Lindbergh Center Station must park in MARTA designated areas and validate their parking ticket at machines inside Lindbergh Station in order to receive free daily parking.  Please note that MARTA has some designated lots which charge a fee including lots at Lenox, Brookhaven, Kensington, and College Park Stations.

Customers transferring to MARTA from Cobb Community Transit (CCT) and Gwinnett County Transit (GCT) are advised to check these systems' bus schedules to ensure they catch their last buses out at the end of the evening.
