Eric Ferguson scored 24 points and Georgia Southern overcame a late double-digit deficit to beat Georgia State 68-64 in overtime on Saturday.
Georgia State took a 55-45 lead on a Markus Crider free throw with 1:58 left in the game. But the Panthers were held scoreless the rest of regulation, and the Eagles went on a 10-0 run that was capped by Ferguson's game-tying 3-pointer with 21 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, Georgia Southern took its first lead of the game at 60-57 with 2:17 remaining on C.J. Reed's 3-pointer. The Eagles (6-7) would not relinquish their advantage, claiming a 63-59 lead on a 3-pointer by Ferguson.
Cameron Baskerville's two free throws gave Georgia Southern a 67-61 lead with 19 seconds left and sealed the victory against Georgia State (5-8), which opened the game with 17 straight points.
The Panthers have lost four straight games.
