There was a little less sparkle in southeast Atlanta on Christmas Eve after a Grinch stole decorations from a front yard.
For more than two decades, Skip Markleim says her festive display of nearly 200 pieces has drawn big crowds for Christmas.
However, last week she woke up to discover disconnected electrical cords and empty spots where two of her favorite pieces once sat.
"The giraffe we got probably six or seven years ago…the dinosaur I put right alongside this tree so that the kids would end up seeing it better," Markleim said. "We had just gotten that piece this year."
Skip filed a police report, but she hopes the Christmas thieves will come forward and do the right thing.
"They belong in this display. They have been here for years. People have especially noticed the giraffe being gone," said Markleim. "I don't see how anybody could enjoy a display that they have stolen."
Skip says she usually leaves her decorations up until New Year's Day, but is considering taking them all down early this year to avoid having any more stolen.
