Rain, high winds possible on Christmas Day

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

It's not snow that north Georgia will need to watch for on Christmas as the FOX 5 Storm Team tracks the potential for severe weather.

The FOX 5 Storm Team says Christmas Eve will see showers, especially in north Georgia, through afternoon. Once the rain comes through, it will be mainly cloudy with highs in the upper 50s.

As for Christmas Day, there is currently a moderate risk for severe weather -- including tornadoes -- through the Gulf states, and a slight risk of severe weather for most of Georgia.  The time period for this looks to be late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

The primary threat for our area will be wind damage, and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

The FOX 5 Storm Team will be monitoring the system and will continue to refine the forecast. For you complete forecast visit the FOX 5 Storm Team page on myfoxatlanta.com.
