ATLANTA (AP) - A special election has been scheduled to fill Chip Rogers' seat in the state senate following his abrupt resignation.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/UGq3dm ) reports the special election is scheduled for Jan. 8.
Rogers, a Republican from Woodstock, announced he was leaving the state senate Tuesday for a job with Georgia Public Broadcasting. He is slated to lead a radio show focused on Georgia business and economics.
He was elected to the state senate in 2002 and represented District 21, which covers parts of Cherokee and north Fulton counties.
