Many people remember waking up to a shiny new bike on Christmas morning when they were a kid, but not every child gets that chance. One metro Atlanta bike shop is hoping to change that, just in time for the holidays.
At Kirkwood Re-cycle, they're passionate about building bikes, and they've got the bruised knuckles to prove it. Brendan and Ben aren't elves and they don't work in Santa's Workshop— but they may as well. They spend their days taking old, donated bikes and making them look new. They also fix up newer bikes as well.
They say they basically started their bike shop to help their friends build bikes and create some custom bikes. But then, they realized they could help more in the community, too.
Around this time, Ben and Brendan take on the role of Santa's helpers, fixing up bikes for kids in the area. And they're not just any old bike. They're custom—which makes them even more special.
Kirkwood Re-cycle is accepting gently-used kids bikes for its Bikes for Kids program. If you've got a bike to donate, text the word "Bike" to 65374, and they'll arrange to pick it up!
