If decorating your house for the holidays seemed like a monumental chore, imagine decorating all the rooms in the Governor's Mansion!
It's a job that takes about a week. It began on Monday, and now that it's wrapping up, the Governor and Mrs. Deal are ready to open their holiday home to you.
Students of M. Agnes Jones Elementary School helped the Governor and Mrs. Deal get the mansion ready for the holidays.
"Well, I'm just so lucky I don't have to do it all myself! We plan in June about the theme and who's going to do what room," said the First Lady of Georgia, Sandra Deal.
Students from Savannah College of Art and Design decked the halls, and the kitchen staff baked tens of thousands of cookies for visitors. The job is worthy of an army of elves, but Mrs. Deal says it's worth it to share with others.
"We think the mansion is beautiful. It's a great place to live, and it's a great place to show off," said Mrs. Deal.
You can all see the decorations by coming to the Governor's Mansion, and the First Lady says she'll be there to greet as many people as possible.
The Governor's Mansion is located at 391 West Paces Ferry Road in northwest Atlanta. The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is Sunday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m., and you can tour the mansion any day between December 3rd and the 18th. For more information on tours, click here!
