Types of Garland
Fresh Garland -- Fresh garland goes perfectly with a fresh-cut tree and will add fragrance to your home

Types of Fresh Garland:

Cedar Garland -- Cedar garland is the easiest type of fresh garland to use for the mantel since it is relatively flat and spills over the edge of mantels
Mixed Cedar Garland -- Very nice garland that has berries mixed in to give it more personality
Fraser Fir -- Slightly thinner than cedar garland. Most Christmas trees are fraser fir trees so this garland ties in well with Christmas trees for a consistent look
White Pine -- Thinner garland that is easy to wrap around mailbox poles, and is very economical.

Hint: Use sprigs of berries or pinecones to help fill out your garland and give it character. They have a guide at Pike Nurseries that helps you determine how much you need for things like your front door, mantel, and other areas.

How to Keep Garland Fresh
The key to keeping greenery fresh is maintaining moisture in the stems and leaves of the plant.
When you get your garland home, soak it in water overnight. Completely submerge garlands in a large galvanized tub or use your bathtub. Once the greenery has soaked overnight, spray it with an anti-transparent like tree preserve.

Plants naturally lose water through their stems and leaves through a process called transpiration. By using an anti-transparent, these pores are sealed and water loss is minimized. Wait a few hours after treatment before you begin decorating.

Wreaths
There are many types and sizes of wreaths. Wreaths can be used just about anywhere:
Front Door - most popular location
In Windows
In front of mirrors
As a centerpiece with candles in the middle
The options are endless!

Williamsburg Wreath Class
Make & Take Williamsburg Wreath Class -- This Saturday, December 1 at 10am at all Pike Nurseries locations for $30 per wreath!

The notion of 'Keeping up with the Jones' is not new, but there is a new pressure coming at you. Peer pressure - whether you're 13 or 33 - is a powerful thing. Now throw in social media and you have what an Atlanta counselor calls 'Keeping up with the Jones' on steroids. And if you're not careful that can get costly.
