Clerk shot, injured in attempted robbery

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -

Police in Clayton County are investigating an attempted robbery that left a clerk injured on Monday.

According to Clayton County police, a clerk was about to open the Shell station on West Fayetteville Road when a person walked up behind him, and forced him inside at gunpoint to open the safe.

Police say the clerk said he could not open the safe, and the person shot the clerk in the ankle.

The clerk is expected to be OK.
