Macy's Christmas tree chopped down in Mableton

Posted: Updated:

It's not even Thanksgiving, but Macy's is already getting ready for Christmas at Lenox Square.

On Thursday, crews chopped down the Christmas tree that will be on the roof.

The 35-year-old, 60-foot tall Georgia white pine was donated by the Green family in Mableton.

Jennifer Green says her grandfather, who she called "Popsy," planted the tree for her first Christmas in 1977.

After crews chopped down the tree, they loaded it onto a truck and took it to Lenox.

The 65th annual lighting of the Great Tree  will be on Thanksgiving.
