Police are searching for the gunman and answers after a deadly shooting at a southwest Atlanta home claimed the life of a 2-year-old girl and put a year-old boy in critical condition.
Atlanta police tell FOX 5 News that they respond to the 2200 block of Polar Rock Place just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The found Ty-Teyanna Motley, 2, and Isaiah, 1, shot. Ty-Teyanna was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where she later died. Isaiah was listed late Saturday evening in critical, but stable condition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
Family members say the children were sleeping with their grandmother on a sofa bed just inside the home when someone opened fire several times through the family's front door striking the children.
Police spent a good portion of the morning out actively searching for the gunman. They used police dogs to try to pick up the scent of the suspect.
Family members are calling the deadly shooting an act of a coward.
Police say they do not have a motive for the shooting. They are asking that anyone with information regarding the incident to call the Atlanta Police Department or Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
