The images of the devastation left behind by superstorm Sandy has brought back some vivid memories for survivors of the floods in Cobb County three years ago.
A group of prayer warriors held a vigil for the country in a senate committee room at the Georgia State Capitol on Wednesday.
Peggy Johnson remembered the victims of superstorm Sandy in her prayer because she knows exactly what they're going through.
"Our hearts go out to them because it's not a quick fix to get things back up on your feet. You know, it's going to take some time," said Johnson.
Peggy remembers the 2009 flood in Austell like it was yesterday. She says the loss can't be measured.
"There's a lot of things that you lost that you really can't explain. Things that when you need them you forgot – oh, they were in the flood," said Johnson.
Peggy is still recovering from the flood where her home once stood here at Cypress Club Subdivision. She lost more than $100,000 in material goods, but says she never lost her faith.
"I was relying totally on our faith, you know. And I thank God for what he has done for us and through us through this hard trial," said Johnson.
Johnson said that she hopes Sandy's victims on the east coast will find their own recovery and comfort.
