A construction crane has collapsed at West 57th Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan, according to NotifyNYC.

The FDNY and other emergency responders were on scene, which is a $1.5 billion luxury high-rise under construction called One57, near Carnegie Hall.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the boom could be in danger of falling, but the city evacuated occupants of buildings, including the pricey Le Parker Meridien hotel, on West 57th Street between 6th And 7th Avenues.

The hotel visitors are being accommodated in other hotels.

OEM is helping residential tenants get to shelters or elsewhere.

"Citizens are advised to avoid this area. Follow instructions of emergency personnel," according to NotifyNYC.

The NYPD has shut down streets in the area, so motorists should expect traffic delays.

Mayor Bloomberg says the crane had been inspected on Friday, along with all other construction cranes ahead of the storm, and isn't sure what caused the incident.
