COBB COUNTY, Ga. -
Long lines have some people questioning whether Cobb County was properly prepared for early voting.
Some voters have reported waiting more than two hours to cast their ballots at Cobb County's only early voting site currently open in Marietta.
Many said they didn't mind the wait.
"It was two hours and twenty minutes exactly. It took too long, but that's what kind of made it exciting too. So, no I think it's fine," said Phyllis Kaiser.
"The wait was long, but that was to be expected. My husband had already voted and told me that it was going to be long. So, I knew what to expect when I came here," said Lillian Douglas.
Others said they wished Cobb County had more early polling places for them to cast their ballots.
"They should have had at least two or three locations open in various areas around Cobb County so it would be accessible for everyone," said Tierica Jackson.
Cobb's director of elections, Janine Eveler, says scheduling prohibited them from opening another location sooner.
"We can't get the facilities for more than about a week because they have other events planned. So, that's what our plan has always been to handle the capacity that we knew we'd have," said Eveler.
Eveler says starting next week, Cobb County will have nine early voting locations open. She said that the office is ready for Election Day as well.
"[On Election Day] The polling places will be open from 7 to 7 and there will be 153 of those locations. So there will be plenty of places to vote," said Eveler.
The Cobb Civic Center opens its second early voting center on Thursday.
Both the Marietta and civic center locations will also be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and another seven early voting polling places will open next week.
Any registered voter can take advantage of early voting in Georgia. Voters need to make sure to have a government issued ID, like a passport or driver's license. Hours and locations for advance voting will vary from county-to-county.
