ATLANTA (AP) - The chief financial officer for Atlanta's Beltline redevelopment project has stepped down.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/WGGp82 ) that Richard Lutch announced his resignation in a letter Friday. Beltline spokesman Ethan Davidson said it was a "personnel matter" and declined to comment.
Lutch was criticized after the Journal-Constitution reported taxpayer money paid for staff retreats, stays at pricey hotels and meals at fancy Atlanta restaurants for employees of the Beltline project.
The board overseeing the project voted in August to oust Lutch's former boss Brian Leary after the newspaper revealed he charged taxpayers for a wedding gift, dry cleaning bill, parking ticket and other items that frustrated City Hall and upset watchdog groups.
Lutch couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday but in his letter offered help during the transition.
