Snellville police are searching for the crooks behind smash-and-grab burglary at a jewelry store. Thieves made off with an unknown amount of fine jewelry and watches early Tuesday.
Police say three men Barron's Fine Jewelry in the dark of night.
"When the patrol officers arrived on scene, they noticed that the front glass had been broken out by a manhole cover from the city of Atlanta. When they entered the store, they noticed that eight of the cabinets had been busted," said Sgt. Trey Downs of the Snellville Police Department.
Downs says the thieves spent less than 50 seconds in the jewelry store. They were captured on surveillance cameras, but their faces were covered.
Snellville detectives hope to use other surveillance video to track them down.
"We'll go back and we'll look at a day a two before the burglary, try to see if we see anybody that looks like they're obviously in there casing the business establishment to see if maybe that will give us a lead as to who the suspects are," said Downs.
Store workers declined an on-camera interview but say they haven't done an inventory yet.
"Right now we don't really know what's taken. The store is in the process of doing an inventory. So, we're not sure at this time exactly the value of the jewelry that was taken and even the pieces of jewelry that were taken, "said Downs.
The incident wasn't the first time Barron's Fine Jewelry was the victim of theft. Snellville police arrested an armed robber who held up the business last year.
