Authorities are investigating after an officer shot a man at a strip mall in Forest Park on Monday, according to Clayton County police.
Witnesses said a knife-wielding man threatened to kill himself on Old Dixon Road. The man refused to drop the knife when police arrived, according to witnesses.
Police said that an officer shot the man after he made aggressive moves with the knife.
Some witnesses gave differing accounts. One witness told FOX 5 that the man told bystanders to call authorities because he was "tired of running." That witness said that the man only threatened himself.
Another witness said the man had moved toward police.
"He walked back and forth three times, as I recall, and then the last time, he started towards the officer He made about three or four steps towards the officer. I think the officer stepped back one time and then he started shooting. The officer started shooting," said one woman.
The condition of the person who was shot was not immediately known.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist police.
