ATLANTA -
MARTA introduced its new General Manager and CEO during a news conference held late on Friday morning.
The event was held at the MARTA Headquarters Building located on Piedmont Road. Keith T. Parker was making a brief visit to MARTA before he moves to Atlanta.
During the news conference, Parker said he knows that this is one of MARTA's most critical and challenging times. He said he would be looking at new ways to save money and improve services, including the possibility of privatizing some of MARTA's services.
He says he wants to improve customer service, make advances in technology, find ways to attract middle-income families to the transit system, increase ridership, and better MARTA's image.
According to Parker, he has instructed his real estate agent to find his family a home near or at a MARTA transit stop so he can take MARTA to work.
Parker recently served as the President and CEO of VIA transit in San Antonio. He begins his position at MARTA on December 10.
