University of Georgia officials say a television station owned by the school will soon be available to viewers in most of Atlanta and all households in the Athens, Gainesville and Toccoa areas.
Jimmy Sanders, UGA's director of radio and TV, tells The Athens Banner-Herald (http://bit.ly/U2Y5cV) that WUGA-TV's geographic coverage is now greater than any other television station in the state.
Tom Jackson, UGA's vice president for public affairs, says the expanded coverage results from new agreements with carriers DirecTV, Dish Network, AT&T U-Verse and Comcast.
Jackson said federal regulators last year granted a UGA request to change the station's official market affiliation from Greenville-Spartanburg to the much larger Atlanta market.
