Three men helped foil a carjacking attempted at a gas station in Buckhead. The men chased after the would-be carjacker, tackled him and held him down until police arrived.
The incident began at a Shell station in Buckhead on Monday. Trish Allmon had just finished pumping gas. As she walked around the front door, she saw a man in the front seat.
"I just like pulling him, trying to get pulling out of the car, screaming at him, ‘You got my kids,'" said Allmon.
Her 9-year-old son Campbell was in the backseat and started screaming.
Allmon says the man jumped out and took off running. Erik and Scott McCurley heard the screaming and went after him.
"You see a mom and two kids, you're going to react," said Erik McCurley.
The two brothers were joined by another Good Samaritan. The three men tackled the suspect and held him until police arrived.
"This was a pretty good-sized guy, and he was hard to take down and hard to keep down," said Scott McCurley.
Kiersten Olterman caught the takedown on video.
Police said the suspect was Coy Elliot. They said he has a long criminal past.
"I'm just grateful that everything was OK and they got him and he's off the street," said Allmon.
According to witnesses, Elliot had parked a van at the gas station before approaching Allmon. Police said that van was stolen out of Douglas County.
