MARIETTA, Ga. -

Police are investigating a shooting that forced a lockdown at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta on Tuesday.

Authorities said the shooting occurred in parking lot outside the engineering technology building around 6 p.m.

"The victim reportedly left, potentially to get aid for his wounds prior to the police arrival, and the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot," according to Officer David Baldwin of the Marietta Police Department.

The school initiated an hour-long lockdown as police searched for the victim and shooter. Students received a text message saying no one could leave or enter the campus.

Police later located the victim. He is being questioned about the shooter, who had not been located as of Tuesday night.
