New Jersey health officials have linked two more fungal meningitis cases to a nationwide outbreak caused by a potentially tainted medication.
The new cases announced Tuesday bring the total in the state to 10.
Health officials say the two new patients are a 50-year-old Cumberland County man and a 26-year-old Gloucester County woman who both received steroid injections in September.
The patients in the eight other cases include residents from Atlantic, Cumberland and Salem counties. Overall, nine of the 10 patients remained hospitalized Tuesday, while the other person was being treated as an outpatient.
Health officials say more than 600 patients in New Jersey received the steroid injection at six facilities across the state between May 21 and September 26.
