11-year-old boy makes working out a passion

DECATUR, Ga. -

Working out can be tough for an adult! But "CJ the Workout Kid" has taken working out to a new level. C.J. Senter is no ordinary kid. He takes working out seriously, and is inspiring other kids to do the same.

It's not too difficult to get young kids moving. Alan Ewing, physical education teacher at the Museum School in Decatur, says he uses play with purpose. Recently Ewing had Senter help out with his class.

"Put your hands in front of your face like a boxer. Then punch left, then right. While twisting your body at the same time," said Senter as he instructed the kids.

Senter is 11 years old. You can tell by looking at his muscular frame that he works out. He says he started when he was just 5 years old when his football coach told his team that they had to get fit for a big tournament.

"So I started working out and I liked it. And it made me feel really good, so I've just been doing it ever since," said Senter.

For Senter, working out has gone beyond a hobby.  He now has a fitness DVD geared toward kids.

"I'm a 35-year-old Englishman. And I try to relate to children as much as I can but there's going to be some people I can't reach. And the fact that these students can see a 10-year-old boy doing these activities and leading them, and inspiring them, is fantastic," said Ewing.

The kids think it's fantastic too. Even though he shows them no mercy, they hung on his every word and obeyed his every command.

"I like working out with kids because I want them to get fit and make them lose weight; get them on their feet. To stop watching TV all day and go outside and encourage them to just do more stuff," Senter said.

"If it affects one, if it affects 10, If it affects 1000, that's going to be fantastic," said Ewing

Senter says his favorite exercises work his arms, but he likes doing squats too. In fact, he's created a new exercise called The Beast! He plans on being a  professional football player when he grows up. For more information on Senter, click here!  To view The Beast, click here!
