Duluth man to sell 'Haunted Mansion' home

Posted: Updated:
DULUTH, Ga. -

A lot of people say they live in a haunted house. One Duluth man can say with absolute certainty that he lives in a haunted mansion, and he's putting it up for sale!

Are you brave enough to move in?

You could fly to California to see Disney's Haunted Mansion, or you could rent the movie based on the attraction, or for the right price, you could buy it right here in Georgia.

"We knew we were going to have a lot of fun here. We've hosted a lot of parties, Halloween's always been a blast here," said haunted mansion owner Mark Hurt.

Hurt is a bit of a Disney nut, and spent years as a contractor for the company. So when it came to building his Duluth home, there was only one question.

"What would Walt do?" asked Hurt.

His answer was to build a full-scale replica of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion with an authentic placard out front, iconic white columns, and wrap-around iron-work from the same foundry used by Disney.

"It wasn't that difficult when you have access to Disney plans. They were very kind and let me go out and photograph the house," said Hurt.

It only took about a year to build the house, and Walt Disney would be proud. Hurt says everyone loved the house.

Just like the other Haunted Mansion in Disneyland, the Duluth home has an elevator shaft, although there's no elevator.

The rest of the inside isn't exactly like Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. A family has to live in the home, but for unsuspecting visitors, there are a few surprises.

Why put the house up for sale? Hurt says he and his wife are moving on to bigger and better. They're building a house modeled after Disneyland's Grand Californian Hotel!
