The Port Authority conducted an emergency drill on the Bayonne Bridge early Sunday morning, simulating a head-on collision, fire and other accidents.

The drill required the bridge to close in both directions and the pedestrian sidewalk from 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

The intense exercise was to test the Port Authority's response capabilities to fire-related accidents and included 25 accident victims, 15 volunteers and 10 mannequins requiring various levels of medical attention.

The New York City and City of Bayonne Fire and Police Departments and Bayonne's EMS crews participated in the emergency drill.
