FBI probes leak in biker gang investigation

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

An FBI agent says the agency is investigating a leak that compromised an undercover investigation into the Outlaw Motorcycle Club.

Court documents show that federal authorities suspect a law enforcement official leaked the name of a government informant, a development that halted the investigation this summer.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/Q2Rdpr) that nearly two dozen defendants with ties to the Outlaws and its affiliated clubs - the Black Pistons, Hoodlums and Southern Knights — were charged with federal drug and weapons offenses after the undercover operation was shut down.

Court records state that the Outlaw Motorcycle Club has chapters nationwide, and has a clubhouse on Campbellton Road in Atlanta. It's "Silver Region" encompasses clubs in Georgia and Alabama.
