VP debate expected to draw large audience

Posted: Updated:

Plenty of viewers are expected to tune in for Thursday's vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan.

An estimated 67 million people tuned in to last week's debate between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney. Some media experts say even more people could tune in for the vice presidential debate.

At Manuel's Tavern, a popular place for Democrats in Atlanta, former Georgia Rep. Doug Teper said that he thinks the pressure is on the vice president to perform.

"I just think it's important -- especially after the first presidential debate -- that both sides show what kind of substance that they're made of," said Teper.

Other patrons said they want to see the vice presidential candidates go at each other.

"I think it'll be good to see Joe Biden and Paul Ryan kind of head to head and in the same room and get a little more face time from them," Fiona Sites-Bowen said.

On the other side of the political spectrum, All News 106.7's Trey Thomas talked to customers at Tommy's Barber Shop.

Tommy Thomas has cut hair for 42 years and doling out political opinion is just part of the job.

"I mean the guy is inept - bottom line," said Thomas.

He doesn't hold back on his feelings about Vice President Biden, but encourages everyone to tune and be informed.

"Whether Democrat or Republican, it's very important to get to know what we're gonna have," said Thomas.

Depending on your politics, you either fear or look forward to one of Vice President Biden's famous gaffes.

"It's gonna be worth watching because Biden always puts his foot in his mouth," said Thomas.

The debate begins at 9 p.m.
