Thieves busted into a Barrow County home early Monday and broke down the door to the bedroom where three young girls were hiding. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Police say just as three young girls were waking up in their Barrow County home on Monday morning, thieves came busting in. They beat down the door to the room where the girls were hiding, but they're all okay thanks to their own quick thinking.
Nora Argueta, 17, says she had locked herself in a bedroom with her 13-year-old sister and their baby niece, but it didn't stop a man from beating that door down. The two older girls were out of school on fall break, and around 9 a.m., they heard noises in the garage.
After thieves broke that bedroom door down, they briefly left the girls alone. That's when Nora called 911. She says she grabbed the phone, called for help and hung up, but the thieves heard her. She says one of the men yelled at her and threatened to shoot them before leaving the room again.
While the girls were left terrified, the thieves fled with a TV, a computer and a Nintendo Wii gaming system. No one was hurt.
Police say they don't believe it was a random attack, and at least one of the attackers may have known the girls' older brother. They say the thieves may have targeted their house because they knew there were electronics inside.
There have been no arrests made in the case, but investigators say they're working on several strong leads.
