The comic book creator known for making brief cameos in movies starring his characters -- including Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Avengers -- will be honored at the upcoming Savannah Film Festival.
Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee's characters took decades, and loads of computer-generated effects, to become box office sensations after they debuted in the 1960s. Now Lee is scheduled to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Savannah festival Oct. 30.
The Savannah Morning News reports festival spokeswoman Jenn Bins confirms Lee has been added to a celebrity guest list that includes Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, Geoffrey Fletcher and Michelle Monaghan.
The film festival, hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design, runs Oct. 27 to Nov. 3.
