A group of parents from North Atlanta High School are outraged with Atlanta Public Schools after the district removed all of the school's administrators.
Just before the final bell on Friday, district leaders with security officers showed up at the school. They ordered interim principal mark Mygrant and his entire administrative staff to pack up and leave immediately.
The abrupt removal of the school's administration have left a growing number of parents upset and distraught over what they believe is a lack of communication from the district.
A district spokesperson told FOX 5 News on Saturday that the district leaders believe they handled the situation the right way. The spokesperson admitted it was abrupt and can see how the rumors could have spread quickly, but that this is all about moving the school in a new direction.
Mygrant announced his retirement last fall, but when the district failed to hire a replacement, leaders asked him to work through this October.
Monday, the district hired a new principal for North Atlanta High School and will allow him to hire his own administrative team, but instead of giving parents or faculty a heads up, they simply made the changes.
The change also came right before a four day weekend which adds to the feeling from parents that something was not handled properly.
Parents told FOX 5 News that they believed the move humiliated Mygrant and they worry if the stability of their children's education as a result of the abrupt, unannounced changes.
A third group of school administrators will take over as a transition team next week. The new principal, Dr. Howard Taylor, has served as a principal in the Gwinnett County school district.
Parents and teachers are planning a protest for next week.
