The Get Up and Go for this weekend is the Lakefest 2012 in Pine Lake.
The festival is located about 10 miles east of Atlanta in DeKalb County.
Saturday, the festival kicks off at 10 a.m. with a community drum circle. The rest of the day touts musical entertainment, arts and crafts as well as lots of festival food choices. One of the big events during the day is a sand sculpture contest. The artists begin their sand creations at 11 a.m. with judging 2 p.m.
The festival continues Sunday with a chalk art contest starts at 12:30 p.m. If you want to give it a try, you can register at the town square. Prizes will be awarded for all age categories.
The festival finale is Floatzila! It is a monster of a floating parade around Pine Lake starting at 4 p.m. Sunday. This year's theme is Georgia Wildlife.
Lakefest is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then again on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
