CHAMBLEE, Ga. -

A car crash shot water into the air and flooded a busy DeKalb County roadway Thursday morning forcing it to close.

It happened just before 6 a.m. Thursday in the 4600 block of Buford Highway in between Dresden Drive and Chamblee Tucker Road.

Officials say a car sheared off a fire hydrant on the side of the road at the location shooting water into the air and flooding the roadway.

It took a couple of hours for emergency crews to shut the water off to the main. The road was closed for about three hours while they worked to clear the scene.

No word on if this will affect nearby homes.

Police are investigating the accident.
