Local voters on both sides of the political spectrum gathered to watch President Barack Obama square off against Mitt Romney in the first presidential debate on Wednesday.
More than 200 Republicans congregated at the Hudson Grille in Midtown Atlanta for the debate. FOX 5's Justin Gray said that one of loudest responses from that crowd came when Romney termed Obama's plans "trickle down government."
Local GOP members said they were happy to Romney aggressively assert himself during the debate.
In Sandy Springs, local Democrats packed Taboo 2 on Roswell Road to watch the debate.
Local Democratic supporters said they enjoyed hearing Obama's comments on taxes and job creation. They were also pleased to hear the President talk about the importance of education.
Some folks said they wanted to hear from both candidates.
"Listening to both of these guys, I know that they want to help this country. But I don't know that either one of them right now, are sharing really how they're going to go about helping the country," said Lynda Goodwyn.
The next debate is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16 in Hempstead, N.Y.
