Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

The Atlanta City Council unanimously approved an aggressive panhandling ordinance on Monday.

The decision comes days after Mayor Kasim Reed vetoed the original proposal in favor of the compromise ordinance.

First-time violators of the new ordinance can be sentenced to 30 days of community service.

Second-time offenders must serve at least 30 days in jail.

The council voted 14-0 in favor of the measure.
