Animals blessed at Piedmont Park

Creatures great and small gathered in Piedmont Park for the annual Christian tradition of the "Blessing of the Animals" on Sunday.

It commemorates the love that Saint Francis of Assisi had for all living things.

Participants brought their dogs, cats -- even fish and hamsters to be blessed.

A pastor From Grace United Methodist on Ponce De Leon did the blessings.

Among Christians, Francis is revered as the patron saint of animals and the environment.
