HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -

Henry County Animal Control officials say that a cat and two of its kittens have tested positive for rabies.

The kittens were given away in the parking lot of the McDonough Walmart on September 9. One of the kittens became ill and scratched someone during an examination at a vet clinic.

Veterinarians had to euthanize it and it later tested positive for rabies.

The person who gave away kittens has come forward.

Vince Farah of the Henry County Animal Control says they now know that four kittens were initially given away. They've accounted for three of them and there is still one kitten unaccounted for. That gray kitten, nicknamed "Maggie," is high likely to be rabid as well, according to officials.

Farah says the person scratched by the kitten did not have to undergo rabies treatment.
