A homeowner opens fire on a pair of armed robbers at his southwest Atlanta home early Sunday morning.
He tells FOX 5 News that the gunmen surprised him when he arrived home. He says he feared he would not survive a violent confrontation with armed gunmen. The shootout left his porch splattered with blood.
The homeowner, who works as a security guard, did not want to be identified. He says he turned the tables on the robbers who jumped him at his house on DeSoto Avenue as he arrived home around 5:30 p.m.
He says that a man jumped over the railing and another came from behind the building. Both men were wearing masks and were armed with guns. They demanded he open the door to his home.
When he refused, the victim says one of the men held a gun to his head and ordered him to the ground. The other man ran off, firing his weapon as he fled. The homeowner says instinct kicked in when he noticed the man pointing the gun at him was distracted.
He says he grabbed the gun and fired a shot before the gunman could react. The homeowner says that he chased the suspect as he fled down the street firing until his weapon was empty.
The police arrived soon after the incident.
He says that his home has been broken into four times. He says he will start carrying a weapon and has no plans to move out of the neighborhood.
