Emergency crews believe the mercury spill found in a McDonough fast food restaurant came from this glass container.
MCDONOUGH, Ga. -
Emergency crews were out a fast food restaurant in McDonough Saturday morning to clean up a toxic chemical spill.
A spokesperson for the Henry County Fire Department tells FOX 5 News that they were called out to the establishment on Georgia Highway 20 near Industrial Parkway after someone came across what was later determined to be a mercury spill. Crews worked to carefully clean the spill.
Authorities found an old bottle nearby that was likely the source of the quicksilver. They are trying to determine who might have been brought the extremely toxic liquid metal to the location.
Crews will be back out on Monday to remove and replace the pavement in the area of the spill.
