Hot Topic: Anti-Islam film and free speech

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Should the man who made the anti-Islam film that sparked protests around the globe be punished? In countries where Islam is the major religion, it's likely he would be. But in the United States, where the film was made, there is the issue of free speech.

An Associated Press report says for those protesting the film, which slams Islam and their prophet Muhammad, the subject matter is all they need to seek justice.

But here in the US, films criticizing religion are not illegal. The First Amendment right to free speech allows filmmakers to do so. But are there limits to free speech?

You can read the full report by clicking here.

What do you think of the American filmmaker who sparked protests:  support his right to free speech, or should he be punished? Post your responses on our FOX 5 Atlanta Facebook page, tweet us @GoodDayAtlanta, or email us at goodday@myfoxatlanta.com!  We'll read some of your responses during the 9 am hour of Good Day Atlanta.
