MACON, Ga. -

She's become one of the biggest stars of the fall TV season, and she's not even 10 years old! She is Alana Thompson, better known as Honey Boo Boo Child.

She and her family are stars of the TLC hit reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The show, filmed near Macon, Ga., has gotten mixed reactions but millions are tuning in, which the family says is because nobody's acting.

And in case you're wondering, the girl called Honey Boo Boo Child is a take charge girl.

"I'm Paul Milliken with FOX 5.  I'm the one interviewing you," began Paul as he attempted to get the interview started with Honey Boo Boo Child.

"No, I'm interviewing you right now," replied Alana.

The show has become so popular it recently beat out the Republican National Convention in viewers.

"Most reality shows these days are pretty scripted, but ours aren't. When TLC came to me, I said the only way I'll do it is if we can be real, we are who we are. This is Alana every day of the week. When the cameras come on, the attention...," said Honey Boo Boo Child's mother, June Shannon.

The attention isn't always asked for. The day FOX 5 shot the interview, paparazzi waited outside. It didn't seem to bother 7-year-old Alana.

Critics have attacked the family since their first appearance on Toddlers and Tiaras with the now-infamous Gogo juice -- a mix of Mountain Dew and Red Bull.

"The Gogo juice was blown way out of proportion. Like, even today, they still talk about it. It happened one time. Hello! Get over it, move on, find something else to talk about," said Shannon.

The family says what you see on the show now is who they all really are. If you laugh, that's great, because they're laughing, too. Where do they see themselves in the future, and where will the show take their family?

"Wherever it takes us, it takes us.  If it ends tomorrow, then we've enjoyed this awesome ride and we loved it and we go back to our normal, every lives, which we do live everyday lives," said Shannon

If it does end, there's always a fall-back career in journalism for the show's biggest little star. How did Paul do while being interviewed by Alana? Did he get an 'A'?

"No," said Alana.

Shannon says they've put the pageant circuit on hold for the moment. She says Alana will continue to compete in them for as long as she wants to.
