Newnan boy battles rare form of cancer

NEWNAN, Ga. -

A normal 3-year-old boy needs a bit of convincing to hug a girl. A normal 3-year-old boy may think it downright devastating to have some take his toy cars. In this respect, Korey Latham is a wonderfully normal 3-year-old boy.

What is not normal about this 3-year-old boy is the battle he had been fighting against neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer which develops in infants and young children.

FOX 5 News first profiled Korey back in April. At the time he was waiting and hoping for a successful treatment. Monday, doctors discovered his cancer which had briefly went into remission, is now back and just as strong.

The family was faced with the choices of completely giving up or to fight further with radiation treatments.

Saturday, family and friends gathered for a candlelight vigil. It was a testament to their resolve to fight letting the doctors handle the medicine while they handle the prayer.

They say they will shower Korey with love and attention for as long as they can.
