Albany recommends firing police officer

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, Ga. -

City officials have recommended firing an Albany police officer involved in a serious crash.

Assistant City Manager West Smith said authorities have moved to terminate Police Cpl. Gary Price.

Smith told The Albany Herald that Price will have a hearing with the city manager to discuss his future with the police department. Smith declined to comment further.

Price drove a police vehicle through a red light on June 30, resulting in a collision with a truck. Reports indicate that the police lights on Price's vehicle were flashing when he went through the intersection. The accident sent two adults and five children to a hospital.

A phone listing for Price could not be found.
