Hall County authorities say a jailer has been released from his job after an internal investigation into an alleged incident involving excessive force at the county jail.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office says Jailer Dustin Charlton was involved in an altercation with an inmate on September 8. They say once the prisoner was handcuffed, Charlton struck the inmate's head with his hand.
Charlton was also the subject of a 2010 investigation into a similar incident in which he struck an inmate. He was suspended for five days without pay for his actions in that incident, according to authorities.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
