Former House Speaker Glenn Richardson returning to politics

ATLANTA -
Former Georgia House Speaker Glenn Richardson says he's ready to return to politics.
Richardson filled out the paperwork on Wednesday at the state Capitol to run for an open state Senate seat.
The embattled lawmaker suffered a political and personal meltdown before resigning in 2009.
The setbacks included a suicide attempt and revelation of an affair with a lobbyist.
Richardson's return may not be easy. In the primary, the 52-year-old faces a field of candidates that includes longtime state representative Bill Hembree.
