Cobb County expects to hire about 30 new teachers to cope with overcrowded classrooms.
Superintendent Michael Hinojosa told The Marietta Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/OEqDn8 ) that he will ask the county's school board to approve the new positions during a meeting Wednesday. He said there are more students than expected in the middle school.
Enrollment figures show the district has 105, 757 students. That's 1,364 more students than anticipated. As a result, some classes are well above the district's average student-teacher ratio. The crowding is particularly severe in some of the county's middle schools.
