GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Police have arrested a Lawrenceville man accused of killing his own mother. Authorities say 42-year-old Mark Wilson stabbed his partially-paralyzed, 72-year-old mother Phyllis inside their family home on Tuesday.

Authorities say Wilson, who police say suffers from schizophrenia, is facing charges of aggravated assault and felony murder. He was apprehended Wednesday around 6:40 p.m. at a QuikTrip gas station located less than two miles from his home, police said.

Investigators said that Wilson's husband and caretaker discovered the body Tuesday morning at their home in the 1100 block of Simonton Glen Way, which is located in unincorporated Gwinnett County.

After an initial investigation, police called in homicide detectives.
