A spokesperson for Occupy Atlanta says their group will lead a march on the Buckhead offices of Fannie Mae on Monday morning. It's part of a nationwide planned protest against Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
An Occupy Atlanta spokesperson told All News 106.7 the Atlanta protest will begin at 10:30 a.m., and they're hoping to have 500 protestors join-- many of them bussed in from Miami, Orlando, Chattanooga, Charlotte and other cities.
All News 106.7's Connie Cummings reports the protestors will gather at the Buckhead MARTA station and march to the steps of Fannie Mae's regional office near Lenox Square Mall.
The group says they're targeting the mortgage giants because they have refused to sell foreclosed homes to average home buyers at the same low prices as they sell them to hedge funds. The group says they're also upset because Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have refused to reduce the principal on underwater loans.
