COBB COUNTY, Ga. -

Police in Marietta say they have recovered over a dozen stolen guitars worth over $100,000.

According to police, the guitars were found in a wooded area near Lockheed Elementary School off Merritt Road on Wednesday.  Along with the 13 guitars, two amplifiers and related equipment were also recovered.

Initial attempts to locate the owner of the guitars failed, and there were no reported burglaries in the area, say police. Investigators eventually contacted a manufacturer of some of the guitars and with their help, were able to track down the owner. The guitars were returned to the owner.

According to investigators, the owner's home, which is not in Cobb County, was burglarized on Monday. The case remains under investigation.
